Organisation Overview:

The Caribbean Climate Smart Accelerator Inc. (CCSA) is seeking to hire an experienced Engagement and Communications Specialist to join its growing remote team. On a mission to transform the region’s economy through climate-smart investment, the CCSA promotes investment opportunities that support climate action and economic growth. The CCSA has recently launched The Innovation Fund Caribbean (IF) as one of CCSA’s Lighthouse projects to address fundamental system failures preventing Indigenous projects from receiving essential funding, by connecting more Caribbean projects with funding sources.

Job summary:

The Engagement & Communications Specialist will play a key role in leading and executing CCSA’s strategic communications initiatives, with a strong focus on elevating the visibility of our climate and sustainability projects across the Caribbean and globally. The Specialist will provide essential leadership in developing creative content, managing digital tools, and engaging stakeholders to strengthen brand presence and mobilize support. This role is central to advancing CCSA’s mission, amplifying its impact, and ensuring effective communication of its work across diverse audiences, contributing to the long-term success and recognition of its initiatives regionally and beyond.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Communications Strategy

  • Develop and implement an annual communications plan to ensure consistent messaging that supports organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to define key messages, themes, and target audiences aligned with strategic direction.
  • Align content strategy with fundraising goals to engage donors and support resource mobilization.
  • Partner with program leads to design outreach campaigns that increase visibility and value of CCSA initiatives.
  • Build and maintain networks with international media and partners to highlight progress on climate-smart initiatives.
  • Establish digital communication protocols for clear, consistent stakeholder updates.
  • Design and manage digital content workflows to maintain efficiency and high-quality communications outputs.

Brand Management

  • Engage Advocates to expand CCSA’s reach and influence through credible, mission-aligned messengers.
  • Support development of impact-focused proposals and presentations with compelling, data-driven content.
  • Lead creation of newsletters that highlight impact and climate action gaps, positioning CCSA as a thought leader.
  • Coordinate production of branded collateral (brochures, reports, presentations) ensuring consistency and professionalism.
  • Strengthen relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and partners to foster trust, collaboration, and effective communications.
  • Train staff on brand and communications best practices to ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging internally.

Website and Social Media Management

  • Implement SEO best practices to increase discoverability and drive qualified traffic.
  • Develop and manage a social media calendar with mission-aligned content to build community, awareness, and advocacy.
  • Provide real-time social media support during events and campaigns to boost engagement and reach.
  • Regularly update website content to keep it relevant, informative, and reliable for stakeholders.
  • Manage or coordinate with web developers to maintain CMS functionality, accessibility, and brand consistency.
  • Monitor and analyze web metrics to optimize content and improve user experience.

Event Coordination and Management

  • Lead planning and execution of CCSA events to ensure high-impact, well-organized experiences that engage stakeholders.
  • Assess media requests, event invitations, and industry opportunities to align participation with organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate media appearances and stakeholder engagements to enhance public profile and thought leadership.
  • Develop media kits, talking points, and presentations to support leadership advocacy.
  • Create and implement communications plans for events to drive attendance, awareness, and post-event engagement.
  • Liaise with media, partners, and influencers to maximize earned media coverage and third-party validation.

Reporting

  • Define KPIs and performance metrics to measure communications effectiveness and guide improvements.
  • Track, compile, and analyze engagement data to assess performance and optimize content strategy.
  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports to provide leadership with actionable insights.
  • Align communications with organizational goals to support strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field; postgraduate training in digital marketing advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years in strategic communications, preferably in nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven contexts.
  • Proven experience managing multi-platform communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Skilled in social media platforms and leveraging keywords for marketing effectiveness.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in CMS (e.g., WordPress), social media tools, analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics), and basic graphic design (e.g., Canva).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in remote or hybrid teams.
  • Familiarity with Caribbean climate, development, or sustainability issues highly desirable.
  • Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack.
