Title: Group Chief Executive Officer

Role Overview:

The Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union Limited (BPWCCUL) is seeking a dynamic and visionary Group Chief Executive Officer to lead and drive the strategic direction of the organisation. The Group CEO will be responsible for managing the operations of BPWCCUL and providing operational oversight to its subsidiaries. The successful candidate will work closely with each Board of Directors to ensure the smooth, stable and profitable running of the Group, while advancing the financial, economic and social wellbeing of its members and customers in keeping with cooperative principles.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the Group’s strategic direction in partnership with the Boards of Directors.
  • Drive sustainable growth, organisational performance, and competitive positioning across all Group entities while protecting the integrity of the brand and member value proposition.
  • Provide executive leadership for the Group’s financial, operational, human capital, technology, and risk management strategies to ensure long-term sustainability and strong corporate performance.
  • Ensure sound governance, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and effective enterprise risk management across all operating jurisdictions.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Boards, regulators, government, members, and key stakeholders, while serving as the Group’s principal representative and public spokesperson.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing executive team and organisational culture aligned to accountability, service excellence, innovation, and member focus.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Banking, Management, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior executive role within the financial services industry
  • Proven track record of leading organisational performance, building high-performing teams, and driving transformation, mergers, or major change initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulation, financial management, governance, and business operations, with the ability to drive sustainable growth and business opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging Boards, regulators, government, and other key stakeholders.
  • Established reputation for integrity, professionalism, and ethical leadership; existing positive relationships with financial regulators would be an asset.
