Role Overview:

The Scrum Master supports the development team and Product Owner in delivering incremental value each sprint for assigned products. They are knowledgeable in Scrum and Agile methodologies, able to educate and guide others in best practices. The Scrum Master facilitates the Scrum process, protects the team from interference, removes obstacles, and creates a safe and productive working environment. They foster continuous improvement, encourage innovation, and help self-organising, self-managing teams achieve their goals while aligning with project and organisational objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build, coach, and mentor high-performing development teams to achieve project goals efficiently and sustainably.
  • Strengthen team understanding of Agile/Scrum principles through education, guidance, and practical application.
  • Ensure all team actions are aligned with project goals, vision, and the broader business strategy.
  • Promote consistent use and continuous improvement of Scrum practices within and across teams.
  • Provide transparency to business stakeholders and IT leadership on progress, challenges, and risks, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Identify trade-offs between short- and long-term benefits, helping teams and Product Owners make informed decisions.
  • Facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives effectively.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I/II) is required; advanced Agile certifications (SAFe, ICAgile, PMI-ACP) are an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in technology or digital project environments, preferably within regulated industries such as banking, financial services, or similar.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects using Scrum or other Agile methodologies.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional teams and working with distributed teams in hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Trello) and Agile reporting dashboards.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration between technical teams, Product Owners, and business stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of Scrum, Agile frameworks, and iterative delivery principles.
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills with the ability to mentor teams in self-organisation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder expectations and foster trust.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to resolve conflicts, identify risks, and remove impediments effectively.
  • Skilled in fostering team collaboration, motivation, and accountability.
  • Ability to balance short-term delivery pressures with long-term strategic objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex project environments.
  • Adaptable and proactive approach to change, continuous learning, and organisational development.
  • Experience with Agile metrics and reporting to support performance insights and transparency.
  • Leadership presence to inspire innovation, build psychological safety, and promote high-performing team cultures.
