Role Overview: The Server Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing the organisation’s server architecture framework and methodology. This role involves establishing scalable governance processes, supporting external service contract negotiations, and aligning server design with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure and report on server performance to ensure optimal operation.
  • Define, develop, and maintain a best-practice server architecture framework and methodology, collaborating with Technology leadership to evaluate new server purchases and their fit within existing architecture.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on projects requiring specialized server knowledge.
  • Implement automation in infrastructure to meet business needs efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Support, monitor, and maintain production systems, products, and applications, ensuring strict adherence to best practices for data confidentiality, availability, and integrity.
  • Actively participate in Problem Management and collaborate with other teams in Incident, Change, Configuration, Release, Availability, Capacity, and IT Service Continuity Management processes.
  • Develop medium-term (1–3 years) plans based on technical architecture, capacity, and business goals to manage server infrastructure procurement, testing, installation, training, and support across all regions.
  • Balance customer requirements and clarify goals in a dynamic environment to deliver top-tier service to external clients.
  • Maintain relationships with external vendors and consultants (e.g., Microsoft, IBM) to enhance service levels while controlling costs.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and execute strategies as directed by the Head of Technology.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, IBM Certified Specialist, CISSP, or CISA are highly desirable.
  • At least 5 years managing server infrastructure in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proven experience ensuring server environments comply with industry regulations such as PCI DSS, SOX, GDPR, and internal audit requirements.
  • Hands-on expertise with server architecture, performance optimization, automation, and production environment support.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors and managing service contracts within a regulatory context.

  • Skilled in monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing server performance while maintaining data confidentiality, availability, and integrity.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with technical teams, auditors, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach to risk management, problem resolution, and ensuring audit readiness.
