The HR Specialist will serve in an independent advisory capacity, providing dedicated HR expertise that. The role combines strategic HR advisory functions with hands-on operational support, ensuring that people practices are aligned with organizational objectives and that CCRIF’s contractor workforce is engaged, supported, and well-managed.
The HR Specialist will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), operating with significant professional autonomy across a fully remote, geographically dispersed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Executive Management in developing and implementing a strategic people plan aligned with organisational goals.
- Maintain and update the Succession Plan, including readiness frameworks and cross-training systems.
- Oversee the full contractor engagement lifecycle, from sourcing and onboarding through to offboarding.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, frameworks, and contractor handbooks suited to a remote, multi-jurisdictional context.
- Provide guidance on independent contractor classification, labour law compliance, and contractual requirements across jurisdictions.
- Design and implement a performance management framework, including reviews, goal-setting, and feedback mechanisms.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on contractor relations, conflict resolution, and workplace culture.
- Manage day-to-day HR administration, including contractor records and engagement documentation.
- Lead implementation and utilisation of HR management software, including data migration and process automation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organisational Psychology, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or professional certification (e.g., SHRM, CIPD) is an asset.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated expertise across HR strategy, policy development, and operational HR functions.
- Proven experience managing independent contractor workforces and multi-jurisdictional labour law compliance.
- Experience operating in a remote or virtual work environment, ideally within a small or lean organisation.
Desired Skills
- Proficiency in HR information systems and digital tools for document management.
- Familiarity with HR software implementation, including rollout and data migration.

- Strong knowledge of HR governance, performance management frameworks, and contractor relations.
- Sound understanding of multi-jurisdictional labour law and contractor compliance obligations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate HR considerations into clear guidance for senior leadership.
